"At YK Taekwondo Academy, our Competition Team is designed for students who want to challenge themselves beyond regular class training. Under the leadership of Master Youngmin Kim — former Korean athlete, International Referee, and current NYU Taekwondo Team Coach — students receive high-level, structured competition training."

Training Details

Compete at Every Level

Our athletes compete in local, state, national, and international events under the guidance of one of the most experienced competition coaches in the region. Training runs Friday 6:00–8:00 PM, Saturday 3:00–5:00 PM, and Sunday 12:30–2:30 PM. Beginner to Advanced students are welcome — our coaching system is built to help each athlete grow at their own level. We believe competition is not only about winning medals — it is about building confidence, discipline, responsibility, and lifelong character. Many of our students have gone on to earn state and national medals, build elite athletic resumes, and develop the kind of character that carries into college and beyond.

General Questions

What age groups do you offer classes for?

We offer classes for all ages, from young children to adults. Our programs are tailored to different skill levels and goals.

Do I need any prior experience to join?

No prior experience is required! We welcome beginners as well as experienced martial artists looking to refine their skills.

What should I bring to my first class?

Comfortable athletic wear is fine for your first class. If you decide to continue, we'll guide you on getting a uniform and gear.

How often should I train to see progress?

We recommend attending at least two classes per week for steady improvement, but you can train more frequently based on your goals.

What different from other schools?

We go beyond physical training to focus on building strong character. Our program is rooted in the values of loyalty, discipline, and perseverance helping students grow into confident, respectful individuals both on and off the mat. We teach not just technique, but the mindset and spirit of true martial artists.
